After months of planning the move, I'm finally in my new temporary home - my grandparents' house! From packing to trying to help my cats stay cool in the 8+ hour car drive up to their house, the journey here was unbelievably stressful but we were welcomed with open arms into their comfy home - which is stuffed to the brim with mementos from my grandparents' 50+ years together, two adorable dogs, and surrounded by lush greenery and beautifully painted walls (the latter two being elements that have been sorely lacking in the past three or so houses I've lived in)!
And now, here are some pictures I took within the first five days of living here:
I found these biographies forgotten in their shed *_*
Some of my grandmother's treasures
Their adorable half chihuahua/half pekingese!
Just one example of the incredible food I've been stuffing myself with over here @_@

What are your grandparents like?
Also ModCloth posted my winning nail design over at their blog - check it out! I want to cry it's so beautiful *_*

Kailey
Oh my, Hedy Lamarr and Gary Cooper! Oh, to find those forgotten in my house! Also your watch is the actual best ever.

Amazing! I love the treasures stored by older generations. I have to tell you what happened to my German grandparents' belongings and house because I know you will understand my devastation. After my Opa died and my Oma moved into an assisted living home, an entire house full of memories was taken to the dump. Everything they had from the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s was thrown away. All the little things I had tucked in my memory of my visits to their house when I went to Germany was now exactly that- a memory. It breaks my heart to think of that cute little house being gutted. What remains now are the two cherry trees in the yard and the structure of the house itself. I wish some people were more sentimental! If I had lived in Germany I would never have let them throw it all away.
ReplyDeletewhat you do here is really good, I will be back soon.
ReplyDeleteAw I love Bambi! So much nostalgia in this post, I love it. :)

That is so cool that you're living with your grandparents. The influence they have had on you and will continue to have seems like it will be an amazing experience. I'm like you in that my grandparents are very close to me. My grandmother and I are especially rather similar, eerily so.
