Fashion in Film: Pretty In Pink (1986)

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Regardless of what you feel about PRETTY IN PINK, it's hard to deny the impact it has had on the public since it's release. It might be an obvious choice make a post about the clothing in Pretty in Pink, but I couldn't help but showcase some of my favorite stills from the movie! Between the gorgeous sets, interesting characters, and the perfection that is the soundtrack (New Order - twice! Be still my heart), this movie ranks pretty high on my favorite films list.

Iona is definitely my favorite character - look at that make-up! *__*

And of course, I have to ask: Duckie or Blane? Personally, I would pick James Spader's Steff!

  16. Hey, thanks for the comment on my blog!
Love this post, pretty in pink is one of my favorites, especially of that 80's era, i definitely prefer this to breakfast club etc!
outfits you picked are awesome especially the first with them amazing socks!

Duckie is the best he would have been my pick! much cooler then the suave guy she picks.

have you seen can't buy me love? recent discovery of mine ... young patrick dempsey plays a dorky guy who turns cool not by any means pretty in pink level but a good Sunday watch if you like these type of movies!

sorry for the essay, great blog though! x

  17. i love this post and totally agree with you about iona- she was my favourite character too! i personally, would've chosen duckie- i read somewhere that that was supposed to be the case until big business wanted to sell cliche corn to the masses. regardless, it is still a great film:)

  21. I never really cared for this movie too much, plot-wise, but the one thing I do adore about the film is the fashion! (Which you did a great job of showcasing here). I hope I can make a prom dress as unique this year :)

  30. This isn't my favorite John Hughes (that post is filled by Ferris Bueller's Day Off!), but I love it none-the-less! Andie & Iona are wonderful fashion inspirations.
I would choose Steff too...of course he could need a good slap every now and again...but James Spader is so adorable...
