DRESS:Missguided TIGHTS: Target (similar) SHOES: Kohls (old - similar) PURSE:Kling

When I first saw this dress on Missguided, I was utterly smitten, but in the back of my mind I did worry a bit about whether or not I would be able to ""pull it off"". However, once I put it on, my fears immediately vanished - even with the figure hugging shape, this dress is absolutely darling and made me feel beautiful and confident; which is definitely not something I would expect with a bodycon dress! Plus, just look at that dainty white collar - hearts in my eyes!

Sometimes I just need to remind myself who cares if it's "flattering" - if you think you look good, you look good, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise! ^__^

Anyhoo! I would like to introduce you to my new everyday bag by Kling! I'm a sucker for shoulder bags, and I'm loving the fact it actually has a super sturdy closure - no worrying my favorite lipstick is going to slip out and be lost forever!

So, how was your weekend? I was so, so happy to watch Lupita Nyong'o win this Oscar Sunday, and she looked absolutely dazzling doing it - g u h ;__;

Until next time - xo!

  2. Yay! A Mermaidens post to brighten up this rainy Monday!

    You're absolutely right. I think it's easy to miss out on something great for fear of not being able to 'pull it off.' Oh, and that bag really is fantastic. :-)

  4. This look is so sweet, and I love the bodycon fit on you. With the collar, it's just as sweet as skater dresses but a little more womanly, too. I love your styling wit the pink, black, and white, scalloped bag, and saddle shoes. It's darling!

  6. Lupita killed it last night -- and you're right, it really doesn't matter whether things are flattering or not (but it's a thought that always lingers in the back of the mind...). You look lovely, though -- that collar is so cute!

  8. I used to have a pair of shoes like that, but I wore them so much that they fell apart! And I totally agree about wearing what makes you feel confident instead of what people think your body type should wear. I also think that this dress proves your point, cause it looks darling on you!

  11. I love the shape of the dress and the collar is super cute. I think I would prefer it in mint green though. In the pictures it doesn't actually look too bodycon.
    I do like the tights with it!

  29. I totally agree. The people who look the best are the ones wearing what they love and not apologising for it no matter if it's not the 'flattering' style for their body shape. Body's are body's and they all rule. We should all just drape our selves in velvet 100% of the time and be done with it. (I'm kinda banking on your being a closet Seinfeld fan with that reference haha)
