PISTACHIO ZINE

Saturday, May 5, 2012

After TWO MONTHS of hard work, stress, and frustration, I am very very proud to present

PISTACHIO ZINE
CUE FANFARE AND CONFETTI ;_;

Inside you will find: my re-imagining of three different cartoon characters, several of my favorite people telling me what their favorite children's book is and why, an interview with Eline, an article on why Grace Jones is perfect, and much much more!

I hope you find it to be just as refreshing as the ice cream flavor of the same name, and don't forget to begin the playlist (see below) specifically intended to be the soundtrack to this zine!

Somehow, this zine became more and more ambitious as time went by, and this took up a H U G E chunk of my time, SO PRETTY PLEASE WITH CHERRIES ON TOP comment letting me know what you think! (=①ω①=)

  4. This...is actually astounding. And I love your hair! And you! And Nel's own contribution w/ the Grace Jones spread. :3 You're such a talent, Kailey! Bursting with creativity. I love that. And I love that childhood was the theme, because I just love kids and being one myself. But it's so incredible, really. Awesome job. I'd pick it up in a heartbeat on a magazine stand. You're a girl after my own aesthetic.

  23. This is one of the loveliest zines I've ever seen! All killer, no filler- and your illustrations are to die for (the colors!). I can't believe it's the very first one you've made. Naturally, I love the playlist too (2 Blur songs, one a b-side?!). Thanks so much for letting me be a part of this. :)

  25. You're zine is really quite amazing. I've been TRYING to put together a zine forever, but you've set the bar a bit too high! Hehe.

    How did you find contributers, if you don't mind me asking. I've seen a few people I'd love to ask, but I'm afraid! o_O

    1. Hellooo catface, thank you so much!

      A few people came forward when I posted saying I was looking for contributors, but most of them I just asked! I was kind of afraid to at first myself, but you just need to remember that if they say no, 98% of the time it's not a reflection of how they feel about YOU as a person, but they are just too busy at that moment or something along the lines! You can do it!
