As the weather continues to be dreary and bitterly cold, I'm setting my sights on clothing with thicker fabrics and richer color schemes - clothing I can imagine myself exploring chilly moors wearing (or y'know, walking down the street without losing the feeling in my legs! *cough* I've read too many books by Bronte sisters...).
Enter Samantha Pleet's Fall/Winter 2014 collection: inspired by Joan of Arc, the collection includes pieces with gorgeous, intricate embroidery (featuring hearts, crowns, arrows, and moons), a dress with an attached cape (!!), and a beautiful blouse with an embroidered arrow on a heart pocket.
I had to share some photos of my favorites - as shot by the incredibly talented Amber Byrne Mahoney and worn by Nika De Carlo - a favorite model!
I didn't think I could love Samantha Pleet's designs any more - and then I saw the new SS15 collection…! Bubblegum walls, cotton candy carpet, and pastel fixtures surround the beautiful models decked out in scalloped yellow matching sets, denim bell bottoms, and swimsuits decorated in seashells.
My favorite pieces would have to be the blue matching set and dress above - that sheer overlay fabric with sparkles is nothing short of a dream come true and reminds me of the blue fairy in Disney's Pinocchio *__*
I found it: the outfit I want to live in this summer! As you know, I am a huge fangirl over Samantha Pleet's designs - and this crop top is one of my very favorite pieces of hers ever. So imagine my surprise when, inside a little parcel from Samantha herself, tucked beside two of her beautiful lookbooks and a flower, was this crop top!!! ;_____; The graphic, tropical leaves that decorate this piece is paradisiacal and the scalloped hem is icing on the cake!
I decided to pair it with these simple high waisted shorts (that are SLIGHTLY shorter then I thought they would be…! Oh well, the parallels of shopping online), my trusty ASOS metallic flats (is silver a neutral? :*), and this darling flamingo printed Klear Klutch!
I can't think of a cuter, more apt for Spring/Summer print then pink flamingos and I have always loved the idea of a clear purse. Not only that, this clutch is truly beautifully made and is big enough to fit my important essentials - like heart sunglasses and my phone (which is outfitted in it's new Valentine's day candies covered case by Zero Gravity) AND a couple frivolities like my cute lipstick and compact (I love showing them off hehe)! I also adore this holographic version they have!
Two of Samantha's beautiful lookbooks and a beautiful fake flower like the ones featured in her S/S 2014 collection - finding these in my mailbox was like receiving a slice of magic from Samantha's world ♡
These were taken in my grandmother's beautiful garden - I just had to pick some of the stunning flowers and made a makeshift flower crown like the ones worn in Samantha's S/S lookbook! :*
I hope you are all had a nice Memorial Day weekend! Mine was low-key (read: boring) - but I did end up eating lots of ice cream and taking advantage of some sales. How did you spend yours? <3
I was introduced to Samantha Pleet through Tara Violet Niami and Hannah Metz last year, and with spring in the air, I keep thinking back to her gorgeous Spring 2014 collection - with which I've been smitten with since I first saw it!.
The mixture of gorgeous prints, quiet sophistication, and attention to details makes her one of my favorite designers right now and the dreamy fashion films Pleet creates with her group of bright young talents is like icing on the cake!
I think my favorite pieces from the collection are the gorgeous foliage covered matching top and bottom, the airy seafoam Tabernacle dress and Scout Dress in Fauna!
